Air ride leak
 

IHA 92 4WD MPV. The rear stabalizers have a leak somewhere. You can hear it hissing. It fills up fine while running but goes flat after sitting. Where are the connections for the air line/ What should I be looking for?

FYI, I have been informed about loosing the rear air ride for a standard shock absorbers but at the moment such an overhaul is out of my price range.

Where do you hear the hissing noise from? Engine compartment, mid vehicle, rear area?
There are 5 connection points in the system.

#1 at pump itself which is just behind and below the right headlight.
#2 is between front and rear pipes which is under van roughly straight down from where the front passenger seat is.
#3 is at splitter beteen rear pipe and pipes that run to right and left air shock that is in front of rear differential.
#4 and #5 at the air shocks themselves.

Would be less suspect of a connection but of a pipe rubbing thru or leaky air shock. Two of the more common leak points are near where the line passes next to the battery (often from battery corrosion) and between the fuel tank and body.

The sound is comming from behind the rear wheels. I don't remember which side. I believe it was the drivers side.

Could well be a leaking air shock or the connection point. Best way to locate air leaks on that is a good strong mixture of dishsoap and water in a squirter bottle. Spray the line, connections, up inside the air shock, etc. Bubbles will lead the way. Another good way to check the shock is when you are hearing the hissing noise, wrap a rag or towel around the shock and push up into the opening to see if it mutes the noise.
