I have a 2005 MPV that the AC is acting up on. It starts the AC and it will run for about 5 seconds then shut off. On SOME occasions it will try to start the AC and produce a loud clacking which is very quick and lasts about 2-3 seconds. It will make the engine feel like it's about to stall, but never does.

Has anyone experienced any issues of this nature?

It is nor causing the CEL to come on and give a code (otherwise it might be a little easier to track down).

 

I suspect your compressor is dying..
