96 OD lite flashing-hard shift
 

Good Morning, our 96 MPV's overdrive lite is flashing and it has started to shift hard from 1st to 2nd, also it is staying in OD at the higher speed.
could this be electrical or a bad tranny

Overdrive light flashing means that computer has found a malfunction and has set a trouble code. Code should be readable by Autozone or other parts stores that perform this free check. See what code number has been stored.
Transmissions in the older MPV were somewhat prone to having problems. Usually they would just start making a whirring noise and then quit moving in any gear after driving short distances. Mazda finally determined that a coating inside the torque converter was flaking off and taking out the oil pumps and then contaminating the entire valve body and other system. Think it was corrected in 1997 MY. Could be an electrical problem still though. you never know.
