2005 MPV Pollen Filter Removal/Replacement

Does anyone have a pictorial explanation on how to do the pollen filter replacement on a 2005 MPV.

In other words, could someone post some pictures of with a how-to explanation of the proceedure of removing and replacing the pollen filter?

My dealership wants to charge an arm and leg to replace this filter. I used to have a Mazda 6S, and I did the replacement myself and saved a lot of $$. The 6S filter replacement involved removing the glove box inner liner, and was pretty simple........about 10 minutes total.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not able to locate any diagrams that would help you replace that filter but will try to explain as best as I can.
Open the glove box fully.
Grab the top sides of the glove box and squeeze inward slightly.
Glovebox should drop down an additional inch or so revealing the rubber covered stops on the side.
Now grasp what would be the upper corners of the glovebox door if it were still closed and pull the LEFT side straight out. It may take a good amount of pulling force but it will pop out of its pivot.
Now slide the glovebox to the left untill the right side pivot hinge is released and set the glovebox aside.
The pollen filter will be located there in the opening. Release the left side clip and pull out to access the filters. There are two of them.

Here are the only pics I could find of glovebox removal. They are not very helpful but may help with above explanation.

Eightball --

BabyHuey's instructions are good. I also found some pictures at www.mpvclub.com/diy.php?id=61 that might be helpful. I used these on my 03 this afternoon and am assuming your 05 is the same. One word of caution when you go to buy your replacement filters, either at the dealer, on-line or at your fav auto parts store (I found mine at NAPA, after striking out at CSK, Autozone and Advance though it had to be ordered). There are two filters listed for the MPV. Having your VIN handy will ensure you get the right one. It is indeed a 20 minute job if you get the right part the first time!

Just for fun, I compared prices today at my local Mazda dealer and my local NAPA store on the cabin air filter. Here are the results: Mazda=$41, NAPA=$26. NAPA number for my 03 was a #4826 and I could have saved an extra 2.60 if I'd remembered to show him my AAA card (a holdover from Ford Taurus ownership). NAPA part looked identical to what I removed from the car -- except of course for the thick layer of dust!

Mazdastuff.com
Try this link for the best prices for filters and other factory Mazda parts/accessories.

I bought my Mazda 6S pollen filter there and a great savings over the dealer.

Here's the Mazdastuff link to the MPV Pollen filter/cabin filter.... $22.41 !!!!
