2003 Mazda MPV P0102 code

:0 I was driving down the road and my 2003 Mazda MPV just died. I started it back up and in order to keep it running I have to keep my foot on the gas and keep the RPMs at about 1000 rpms. I had it plugged up and it got a P0102 code. It says either a Large vacuum leak, Leak in air duct tube, open or short circuit condition, or Faulty MAF sensor. I don't know what I should do. I don't want to buy a new MAF sensor if it's not the problem. I have cleaned it and still will not stay running unless I press the gas enough to keep it registering over 1000 rpms

Two places to look at. First is the slinky/snorkel tube between the air filter box and the throttle body. Theses are known to crack and separate causing air to enter the engine, bypassing the MAF.

Second is the PCV hose. It's located on the backside of the engine by the firewall, large diameter and straight off the intake. The older hoses would collapse and eventually split giving you a large vacuum leak.

If those are ok, and no other source of a vacuum leak is noted, you just may need a MAF sensor.
