2000 MPV transmission
 

I have a 2000 MPV. The gear shift selector is indicating more than one gear and sometimes none at all. I can not get the key out. ( I rigged it where I can...unplugged a wire on the back of the ignition lock tumbler). The key now comes out ANY time. The van will not start unless it is in neutral, even then the gear shift needs to be wiggled some. I have looked up the problems and can not determine if I need a Transmission range sensor or a transaxle range switch. The parts have the same part # FB02-21-444A in my research. They may be the same thing I dont know. I checked a local parts house and they cross-refed it to a neutral switch for about $165.00. I think that is way to high for a part I may not even need.
