1993 MPV transmission problem
I have a 1993 6 cyl MPV 2 WD. I recently had the transmission oil changed and after about 40 to 60 miles after the service my van only drives for short periods after letting the van sit for a day or so. When I start the van I have a high pitched noise and the vehicle will drive, after the noise stops the vehicle stops.
Some other background is that shortly before the problem started I had got my van stuck in a wet field and spun the tires forwards and in reverse about 150 feet after getting unstuck the vehicle would not drive. I was told that it's possible that my torque converter slung out it's oil and it could possibly be changed or refilled if I was lucky. I let the van sit for about two weeks and I drove it for about 2 or 3 minutes around my yard before it stopped again, so I don't think my tranny is completely gone yet, but the van's blue book value makes me hesitate to sink in too much more cash. Any thought's before I scrap it? |
