Running Rough
Hope someone can help. I have a 95 S with 2.3 Miller that runs well when started cold and will continue to run well until it is restarted warm, then it runs rough for about 2 or 3 min. and clears out to run well again. I removed and cleaned out the EGR and found a split boot on the air intake but still have the problem. Went to Autozone to have CE code checked but they only do 96 and up. How can I check for codes ?? Any suggestions of what the problem can be. Help

RE: Running Rough
There is a small black box under the hood with a lid. On that lid is a diagram of the pins. Jump GRD and TEN with a paperclip and turn the ignition to on and count the check engine light flash's. 1 long flash = 10, 1 short flash = 1. So 2 long flash's and 2 short flash's = code 22.
A common problem on those was a vacuum T under the passenger side removable intake runner breaking. It is the runner nearest the firewall. |
RE: Running Rough
Hi thanks for the info I assume you mean GND not GRD correct I tried jumping GND and TEN with the key on but the CE light did not flash at all I disconnected the battery and reconnected it and tried again still no flashing light. Any suggestions[/align]

RE: Running Rough
No codes in the PCM then. Check the fuel pressure regulator. It is mounted on the fuel injector rail and has a vac hose to it. A cold engine needs a rich fuel mix so it bumps the fuel pressure up cold. If it sticks it would basicly give it too much fuel for a warm engine.

RE: Running Rough
Thanks , Seems to make good sense. Can I get away with just blocking off the vacuum so the regulator will not offer more fuel, or will that prevent a cold start.
