Looking at 2002 2.5, have a few questions.

Hi, new poster here. I just had my 95 Millenia S taken to the salvage yard because my teenage son had a wreck in it. And the car cost too much to repair.

I'm considering buying another Millenia, newer, but with the 2.5 as a car for my teenager to drive. I loved the S, but it is too much power for my teenager.

One thing I did not like about the S was the engine maintenance costs. The 60k service was quite a while ago and I remember it cost a bunch for a timing belt change and valve adjustment.

Does the 2.5 have similar maintenance requirements? I am considering a 2002 with 57K miles on it. Is a major service just ahead?

2.5L it is a little easy to work on but the parts $ are basically the same price:)

there is no requirement for a timing belt at 60k. recommended is 105k, unless you let the dealer convince you to change it. additionally, the motor is non interference. if the belt breaks, the only problem will be that there will not be any power for brakes and steering. we have seen timing belts with 180k on them, they look like new. this car does NOT have a history of eating timing belts. however, if you cannot do some of the maintenance yourself, you are doomed to pay others. i just finished changing out the rear bank pre cat. took me about 4 hours. some of that was because i was trying to figger out what had to come off. next time, i can do it in 3. i have changed plugs on both cars(we have 2 99's, both 2.3), and coils on 1. changed axles on both. seat heaters, brakes, fuel filters, none of it is difficult, but it takes more time than other cars. btw, the exh manifold price has dropped from about 1100 down to 416. that is CHEAP for a pre cat.
