I have a 1995 Mazda Millenia with 175,000 miles. Recently while driving 45-50mph, I have begun to notice the engine surging. Not all the time, but frequently. It is also reflected in the tachometer. Any ideas?

 

2.3 or 2.5 ? Mine's a 2.5, i had same problem before, i changed the sparkplug wires, cap & rotor, took care of it since. good luck

 

I had the same problem with my 2001 2.5L. Also, it stalled intermittently at a stop. No check engine lights, just the surge and stalling. After searching the forums and talking with a local dealer I changed the distributor and this solved the problem. The Ford Probe also uses the Mazda 2.5L and many sites have postings of these symptoms with advice to replace the distributor.
