Code P170

i got a car with a check engline light on, i went to my buddy's place to check out what was the problem. he said that the check engine light was giving him code P170, later on i found out that my air intake tube was cracked, so i patched it up as good as i could and my buddy turned off the check engine light. it didnt come back for a couple of days, so i thought i needed a new tube, but the next day when i went for a drive i found that the check engine light went off. couple days later and went on again, and then off again, and it just keeps on doing it. this morning i started the car with the engine light on and after i came back to the car i found it to be on again. i just don't know what could be the problem, code P170 is for the fuel trim, if anyone knows what could be causing it, please let me know. thanks

RE: Code P170

fixed that some time ago now, but i scanned today again and found out that it was a knock sensor that made my check engine light go on and off. thanks anyway keninn!

RE: Code P170

huh? one scan is p0170(fuel trim, right bank), another scan is 0325(knock sensor)? either you got 2 codes, or someone dont know how to use a scan tool. also, the leak in the intake would not throw a code for only 1 bank, since both sides would be affected.

RE: Code P170

i got code P170 when i just got my car, and then i found that the tube was cracked, so i patched it up for the time being, and it went off, and then check engine light started going on and off, so i scanned today again to see if it's still the same code, and it gave me code P1325 i believe. i just thought it was the same code all along
