Clearing codes on 1995 Millenia

I just have gotten done with alot of engine work and want to clear the codes. Ive disconnected battery and the check engine light still on. Being its OBD1 am I missing something?

I want to clear them and drive it so im not seeing old codes ive already fixed.

I dont have a scanner yet to read whats logged now. Any advice?

I remember tanprotege saying after you disconnect battery, to then go and depress the brake pedal for 10 seconds to suck any leftover electrical juice. I would also leave it unhooked for 10-15 minutes before hooking it back up. Let it idle for 10 minutes before driving. Do not floor it for a few days. gradually work your way up to flooring it after a few days. Not sure if ODB1 or 2 makes a difference.

I tried the brake pedal trick and still light illuminated. I guess the OBD1 is diffrent then OBD2 in a sence that there is no readiness it has to run through. The check engine light comes right back on. Ill try again.
