Check Engine light
I bought a 2001 Mazda Millenia last year. The car works fine and I love it's ride and drive. Recently, the check Engine light came on. I got the oil changed
but the light is still there. Does anyone know how to get rid of this "Check Engine" light ? Thanx in advance and regards, |
RE: Check Engine light
The check engine light is a light that is illuminated by the cars computer. This computer is there to keep constant tabs on the cars (mostly poulltion control) equipment. So, for a long answer to a short question, that is why the check engine light is illuminated. You need to find out why your computer thinks there is a problem, what it is.
You will need a code scanner, which is about 50 - 80 dollars, and connects to your cars wiring. This scanner will return one or more 'codes', which will point you in the right direction to find the problem. Good Luck! |
RE: Check Engine light
Like kellybell said, there is a Fault code in the PCM. You need to get the code pulled to find out what is wrong. Any Mazda Dealership should be able to do it.

...and autozone will pull the code for free, as long as it's not raining outside :) Takes about 30 seconds. Save yourself 50-75 bucks by not going to the dealer.
