Battery light on - alternator questions
Hi, folks. 2002 Millenia S. Car wasn't driven over the winter. Just connected the battery and started it up, and got the alternator/battery light. Battery's 12.7 volts. I tested voltage across the battery terminals while engine ran, and it was under 13 volts, so I figured I'd run tests on the wiring and alternator itself, but I can't see or reach the B+ post on the alternator. Damned thing is buried! Also, can't seem to pull out the wiring plug feeding into the alternator, either. What's the trick to that?
Does anyone have any advice on how I can access what I need to get to in order to test the alternator? Can't imagine the part crapped out, because the car is seldom driven, and has really low mileage. The alternator is spinning, and the belt tension looks okay. I'm hoping it's just a bad connection or something, but I won't know if I can't reach the spots to test it. No visible gnawing damage to the wiring that I can see yet. Thanks for any help! |
