Default metal click in automatic gear selector

For the past week I have been hearing a metallic "click" each time I move the gear selector from park, reverse, and ultimately Drive. The has been no problems with the automatic transmission... car is 2007 Miata sport with 90000 miles.... any suggestions?

The service schedule says flush trans at 100000...no flushes to my knowledge ...

Thanks for your wisdom!

oh hell, if its in the gear selector it has nothing to do with your transmission or miles, it's just a lever device. It's all plastic, screws, and sheet metal. It should be fine if you leave it, some plate is probably lose. Dismantling it could be a work out.
