How-To Remove Center Armrest (2001 Mazda Miata Special Edition)?
 

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for help on removing the center armrest in a 2001 Mazda Miata Special Edition (burl/wooden trim around shifter). I believe an item fell through the rubber guard under the gas/trunk release buttons into the cavity underneath and I wanted to see if it's still there (silly me, wish I had known stuff could fall through the guard). I see 2 screws in the lockable compartment and 2 plastic "plugs/caps" on the sides of the armrest near the shifter. Some brief research also makes mention of a hidden screw under the window switch assembly. I'd greatly appreciate help with the following:

*How do I remove the window switch assembly?
*How do I remove the 2 plugs/caps without damaging them that I presume are hiding 2 screws?
*Lastly, how do I get the armrest to pop free without damaging it so I can look underneath it?
