Default cracked oil pan

i ran over a piece of metal in the road & have a cracked oil pan, i was quoted $750 for repair.....how reasonable is this price? and does the transmission really have to be removed to replace an oil pan? any advice is welcome!!!

Default RE: cracked oil pan

i'm not a super mechanic and i don't know your car inside and out, but i would say that the tranny doesn't need to be pulled for this work. like i said though, i don't know your car inside and out. all that i can say is to get a second opinion on it before you pay them. i have never seen a car that the tranny needed to be pulled to drop the pan but i have seen weirder things, so just get a second opinion.
