Clutch problem

Can anyone help? Our 92 Miata is having a clutch problem-----when you depress the clutch pedal it sometimes does not disengage from the engine. I have "pumped" the pedal a couple times and it helped for a while but now it seems it is engaged to a degree all the time. I have checked the fluid in the master reservoir and I have checked the adjusting rod that connects the pedal to the master cylinder. I have a feeling that the master cylinder or the slave cylinder are not working properly. The 92 has never been abused with only 45,000 miles on it. How can I troubleshoot to locate the problem or has anyone had a similar problem???

Thanks-----------

RE: Clutch problem

hey there. honestly, i would replace the master cylinder and the slave cylinder just to be sure. this is because they are both fairly easy to install, and they are not to pricy. then i would make sure the bleed the clutch VERY well afte replacing it. if it still does it, then its the clutch. even if it wasnt the slave or master, it still not a bad loss for putting new ones in with new fluid with a new clutch. just what i would do.:)

RE: Clutch problem

I got the same problem with a 97' Miata and I changed the slave cylinder.

The part is fairly accessible behind the right front wheel if you are DIY.

Good luck!
