Is a 1991 Miata a classic and what is value?

I have owned my 1991 Miata for about 10 years. It is an extra car that we use occasionally and it has only 82,000 miles. I am considering selling it and have not found the traditional sites to be of much help in determining its value. Ebay is all over the board. And someone told me recently that the 1991 may be more value because it is now over 20 years old.

Any advise and its value and the best venue for selling it for the best price? It has never been wrecked and runs great

Thanks,

I know in most states a vehicles must be 25yrs or older to be an antique. My 1987 RX7 is not there yet.

the problem with that generation is that they are extremely common. that was the beginning of the first generation of the best selling roadster of all time. there were lots of miatas on the road at that time and, due to the relatively high sticker price, people took care of them.

they are currently popular among auto-x, gymkhana, and drift drivers at an amateur level because they are light, cheap, and easy to find. if you give it a few years until it reaches the federally mandated classic range (25 years old), many more of them will be modified, wrecked, etc. an unmolested, low-mileage model may go for a decent price at that point.

I knew a gal with a 1991 Miata and she was a classic ;-)

Seriously, they do tend to be well taken car of cars.
