Default Used CX-9 Purchase Advice

Based on some research in forums, Consumer Reports, and other car sites I've arrived at the Mazda CX-9 as a replacement for my always unreliable BMW X3. I have narrowed down my choices to a 2012 or newer with around 50,000 miles as being a good replacement with a nice increase in room.

If I had spent some time on the BMW forums I never would have bought my X3 since it appears to suffer from untold numbers of quality problems. This time around I thought I would ask the current owners if there are lingering, persistent problems with the CX-9 before I make a deal. A search of your forum doesn't really reveal a lot of unhappy owners.

Anyone out there that wouldn't buy a CX-9 again? Issues to watch for during pre purchase inspection.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

Are you after a FWD or AWD?

Big tyres = big replacement costs.

Common for brake shudder.

Engines appear to be almost bulletproof.

Ive seen a few transfer cases/PTO's fail not many, but a few.

I am looking for the "Grand Touring" trim and I believe that is always offered in AWD.

Regarding tires, I've just become accustomed to paying between 700-1000usd for a set these days.

Thanks for the reply, Grim_Reaper

I sell my cx9 2011 sport days ago and get the new cx9 2016 because the cx9 is so reliable and have the best bang for the buck.
