Sputter when accelerating after oil change
I bought a used Mazda CX-9 from a Mazda dealership and have it regularly serviced at said dealership. It’s got 106k miles on it. I just had the oil changed in my cx-9 and now all I smell is burnt oil and the engine sputters ONLY at acceleration. It drives fine after the initial sputter and doesn’t have any other problems. The RPMs are normal before and after the sputter but when it sputters they fluctuate between 900-1200 rpm. No check engine lights or anything of that nature. It hasn’t stalled and hasn’t done this before. New to the Mazda community and not very experienced with foreign cars. Any insight before going and emptying my pocketbook at the dealership would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to the forum.
I would recommend having your Mazda checked for pending DTC (engine codes). If there is an anomaly the ECU may not necessarily generate a DTC if the condition clears itself much like you are describing.
Whomever checks the ECU have them look at the monitors as well. Use only a scanning device connected directly to the OBDII diagnostic connector.
