Need Tongue weight Help
 

I want to get a motorcycle carrier for a 08 cx9 grand touring(no factory tow setup).I cant find any info on direct tongue weight.If youve ever seen a dirt bike directly against the back of an suv on a hitch,thats what I want to do.Im looking for info on direct weight limit on back of vehicle.My bike weighs 610#s.Any info would be great,cant find it anywhere including dealer.

I had a 2008 GT with the factory hitch. It was a 1 1/4" tube, and max tongue wt was ~300#. You can buy a class 3 hitch for your CX9 with a 2" tube for your car, but the max tongue wt is 400#. You would have to upgrade to a class 4 setup to support your bike. From experience, I had 300# worth of tongue weight on mine, towing my boat--you don't want to hang 600+ pounds directly off the back of a CX9. You could trailer it with any hitch though.
