Thank you all Mazda experts whomchimed in and generously shared their suggestions! Happy to report that changing the spark plugs gave my CX-9 a renewed life and got me back to much a more reasonable mpg performance (I have gone back to 23-24 mog and if I really drive really softly I go up to 28-30 easily!!!)
