Lower Control Arm, Ball Joint, and Recall 8515G for 2011 Mazda CX-9
I was backing out of my garage yesterdat and my steering wheel jolted hard very suddenly, I lost steering control, and my husband yelled for me to stop.
We jacked up the car and looked and it appears that the lower control arm and the ball joint on my front driver side tire separated from each other.
I wanted to share my pictures to get confirmation that what we saw is correct.

I've never had anything wrong with my car (so no service other than oil changes etc) and my state doesn't not require inspections.
I did hear a clicking/knocking when ever I turned my wheel to the right. My husband was going to take it into our mechanic because he thought it was the tie rod... then this happened.
Since this message, I've taken it to our local Mazda dealer service department and they said it is covered under the recall, so it's being taken care of.
Thanks so much for confirming what I saw in our pictures.

Be thankful this happened in your driveway and not the freeway at 60mph.
I recommend in the future you invest in full vehicle servicing instead of just oil changes. This should of been picked up earlier with proper servicing.

I'm curious if anyone has had the recall performed and then had the issue happen again? This just happened to me and already had the procedure to "fix" it done 2 years ago

Yes, same thing happened to me and I was told by the dealer that recall parts carry no warranty. Since this seems to be an issue they can't seem to really fix with a recall they should either comp all repairs for the part or recall the vehicle. Sadly the vehicle recall probably won't happen until people start dying from it.
