Default Low beams quit working

So all of a sudden both low beams went out. Checked the low beam fuses L/R both are good and the High Relay (number 4 I think) and its also fine. Is there another common problem I'm missing? I'm on a vacation so I don't hve a voltage meter so tools are limited...

Is there a single ground wire for both?

Are you sure you didn't have one light burned out before, now the second burned out?

Voltmeters are cheap, like starting at $7 or so. One of those works fine for a job like this. Ditto for a cheapo screwdriver, etc.
