Just bought my first Mazda!! CX9

Hi everyone. I had just bought a 2013 CX9 GT today and have always wanted one and now I finally got it!!! It took me almost a week of haggling with the dealer to get to a price I could deal with. I just wanted to know what my fellow CX9ers think if I got the "good deal" or the "screws"..
2013 CX9 Grand Touring. 2,070 miles! Certified! Black on Black.
It does not have the nav, which seems like it is more trouble than its worth, or the Bose system. I think Bose sounds good, but is a little overrated, not to mention $$$$$! The stock 6 speaker stereo sounds pretty dam good in my opinion, and has aux. and USB input. I am also lacking a power moonroof. So, this is a Grand Touring pkg. without the extras. It does have everything elso though.. Anyway, I got the dealer to agree to 29,000. They started at 31499. I still have 22 months or 34K miles on the factory warranty, then an additional 12month 12k miles on the Cert limited warranty with the 7yr 100K powertrain. This car is like brand new. So was it a deal or did I get screwed. Thanks...

Hey Dave,

Congrats on the new CX-9! With only 2,070 miles on it, I’m sure it looks brand new inside and out (literally)! Actually, with the 7-year/100,000-mile CPO Powertrain Warranty, it’s better than NEW! =)

Even though $29,000 sounded like a good/great deal on a 2013 CX-9 GT, I double checked with KBB and Edmunds to be sure. The Edmunds CPO TMV (True Market Value) was $31,618 and KBB calculated the CPO Retail Value at $34,454. Your purchase price of $29,000 is $2,618 less than the Edmunds (and usually more accurate) figure. So the answer is YES, you got a great deal!

The majority of Grand Touring models have the GT Technology Package which includes the 10-speaker Bose Audio, Navigation, SiriusXM sat radio and Power Moonroof. But if you can live without those features, the ‘standard’ Grand Touring can be a great deal. I have a 2012 CX-9 Grand Touring that I purchased new in November 2012. I really wanted the Bose audio system, so I had to pay for the Moonroof/Bose Package and Power Liftgate ($2,655) to get it! In 26k miles, I’ve opened the Moonroof twice and only used the Power Liftgate a handful of times. In 2012, Navigation was an individual option ($2,000) but required the Moonroof/Bose Package to get it. For 2013, they package it all in the GT Technology Package, just FYI.

As you mentioned, the standard CX-9 GT without any options is still pretty well loaded! You may not know this, but you can add the Navigation System to your model for around $500. Actually, it retails for $559.95 but I found it for $483.79 online. It is the same exact system installed at the factory and installing it is very easy- basically just ‘plug and play’. Also, the SiriusXM Receiver can be added for a little over $300 ($379.90 retail, but I found it for $329.79 at the same dealer as the Nav System). So you have the ability to add two of the four features from the GT Technology Package if you have any interest in doing so…..

You should post some pix when you have a chance and show off your new ride! The Black interior on 2013-2014 Grand Touring model looks amazing with the suede seat inserts and door panel trim. I chose the Sand Leather for my 2012 because the Black interior was so dark and rather plain in appearance. But they definitely fixed that with the 2013 interior updates.

I have been toying with the idea of trading my 2012 for a new 2014. I had a hard time deciding on a color for my 2012 because I really didn’t like any of them. But I loved the vehicle itself so much that I finally settled on Crystal White Pearl. Mazda introduced a new color on the 2014 called Blue Reflex that I LOVE and it comes with the awesome new Black leather/suede interior. My dealership has one with the GT Tech Pkg and Towing Prep Pkg with a sticker price of $38,400. I got them down to $31,500 (including $500 Owner Loyalty Cash) last month when I first considered the idea. They’ll give me $24,700 for my 2012, so it’s a pretty sweet deal! As long as they still have the one that I want, the offer stands, so who knows what I’ll finally decide??? =)
