Default emissions

2014 CX9, when they plugged in the scanner at the emissions all the lights on my dash board came on and they could not get a reading , and they said it froze the scanner . Could my Mazda do that or did the tester just beak down , after I left my check engine light came on , later I went out it did not come on Any ideas ?

Um.. well where to begin, how about this go to a different shop.

I can't even begin to answer your question without a few hundred preference questions. Someone does not know how to use their Scan tool would be my first "guess"????

Ok and????? The first indication that a procedure was not done correctly was all you dash light coming on!
What else can I say you can either go back and hope you get someone that actually knows how to work a scan tool or if your state has a specific emission test equipment like we have here in California or drive to a different emission test facility. When you access the OBDII Diagnostic connector the only thing registering should have either been on the scan tool or the emission equipment test screen. The engine check light was likely your ECU screaming that it had been violated.... to bad you could not have retrieved the DTC which would have more then likely indicated what really happened?
