Thanks. We have VW PTSD from having my "dream" car (mileage and power wise) basically wrested from our hands. 820+ miles on a tank was too nice to last. We bought the Mazda on the rebound and are somewhat shocked about some of the things the dealer has said and done. Not going to them for oil changes anymore and do hove the 100K insurance. Anyway thanks again.

I misquoted about designed for, I just get wound up when service dept personal pull that garbage. Turbo's need their cool down before turning the engine off. The people who maximize horse power out of their trucks know it. Aftermarket makes a "Turbo Timer" that allows the engine to run and cool oil down after you turn the key off. Remote start principles but on the shut down side. Heat is the destroyer of oil and when you turn the engine off on a turbo without letting it cool down first, failure is guaranteed. 10K miles is not unreasonable. Mazda uses the 7,500 mark for service for tire rotation reasons.

Just purchased 2016.5 CX9. Grand Touring
Glad to see a site about the CX-9.Never had a turbo before. So is cooling a big
Issue with type.
Interesting reading.

You'll see some things here and elsewhere that are not exactly factual. Follow your owner's manual. It is true that after a hot & heavy drive it is good to give the turbocharger a minute or two of idling cool down. A freeway rest area is one good example. Give it a short idle period. Otherwise, don't fret. I put 200,000 miles on my Volvo turbo 850 without a problem. They are made to last a long time.
