Coolant leak, engine replacement

I will let grim_reaper make a comment about that. I did check with my contacts at MAZDA but grime works for Mazda.

Sorry if my post seemed like spam, that wasn't my intention. I need to get rid of this Kia Soul as my insurance company is raising the rate on me over the theft issue. So I am extremely paranoid buying something that may have a defect...which is why I shared that link.
Are you a bot? A little too predictable.
You do realize on the internet and on forums this term "bot" is a slang and negative much the same way as calling you an a** hole right?
But I see you can't answer my question so I could say to you "predictable"!
I would suggest before you seem to always take peoples word as factual (25 engines replaced for one problem at one dealership) that you at least do a little fact checking or use common sense before using them as part of your authorize (not) responses on forums. .

New to this thread and experiencing this issue for my 2018 CX9. Is there any TSB issued in Australia like the US one which has been shared here. Has anyone in Australia experienced this issue and been successful in getting Mazda fix this for them. My Car is with Mazda dealer for few days and they have opened Technical case with Mazda company and still waiting for update on cause and solution.. Thanks

If they have a case directly with MAZDA then that is all your be hopeful for. If there were any TSB different it has no bearing now because your dealership has gone directly to MAZDA now. I assure you MAZDA knows all the TSB wherever they were generated and posted.
Besides you showing a TSB to the dealership is sorta "IN YOUR FACE" approach to what appears to be a dealership that is trying to help you. Sounds like they know what they are doing.
Just be patient wait for the answer from Mazda cor.p to your dealership at this point.

It was only discovered during a routine service at an independent workshop, where they noticed low coolant and topped it up. That's when they noticed it leaking. They first thought it was a coolant pipe but no, it's coming from the head. The turbo casing is also cracked. It must have happened very recently as there were no warning lights or anything on the dash.
Have contacted the closest dealer today and they did mention sometimes Mazda Australia does provide out of warranty support. I haven't mentioned the US issued TSB yet, just waiting to see how they will respond. I had one other warranty claim when the car was new, and the selling dealer absolutely refused to acknowledge the problem until I showed them the US TSB on the same issue, hopefully I don't have to resort to that this time.
Please let me know how you go with this. My 2017 CX9 Azami has just suffered this issue with 84,000km on it. Three years out of warranty. I'll be absolutely filthy if Mazda doesn't come to the party on this. This level of repair within 6 years on an AU$70k car is not reasonable.

My mechanic, who used to work in Honda dealership said to me, ensure you maintain your calm and not fight rather show your concern about an expensive new car getting this issue in 6 years. Make sure you discuss that this is bigger issue impacting more cars as you know there is TSB in other countries and many cases in Australia. I know they tried to push back that things in US are different but I did let them know its same engine and issue and people in Australia are impacted too so its seems line manufacturing or design issue. I have been patient and calm with them to ensure they manage it well with Mazda Australia to help with this. Hope it helps.
I have been told Mazda Australia is covering all expenses in my case. To share more details, on Day 1 they said they will charge me $180 for 1 hour of labor to find the issue. They couldn't find it, so they said they need to charge 3 more hours @ 180/ hour to find the fault. Which I was surely not happy about and was concerned paying around $750 just to find the fault. They then said they need to raise technical case with Mazda as they couldn't figure out even after spending 2 days and they need the service history and invoice to do so as I used to service from local mechanic. Once they raised technical case, Mazda Australia confirmed, it needs full engine replacement but agreed to cover all expenses. Only downside is they need Engine to be ordered from Japan and total time to get car back is 1 month but relieved that I dont have to bear the cost of engine replacement as it was 3 years out of warranty

Yes Mazda told me today it is a minimum 1 hour charge, which I'm good with. My car will arrive with most stuff removed so should save labour time there.
I paid $700 for the original mechanic to find the issue. I'm considering pushing Mazda to cover this as well.
I was concerned because the car has not been serviced at Mazda 100% of the time (it shouldn't matter anyway) but looks like it won't be an issue.
