Cargo Cover with Power Lift Gate

Does anyone know why the Mazda Cargo Cover can't be used if you have a power lift gate and if it can be modified to work? The part TD11-V1-350G specifically says not for use with Power Lift Gate but the dealer couldn't tell me why. There's an old thread from years ago on the subject but no one answered the question.

I'm guessing it wont fit due to the power strut taking up space.
