Cargo Box with factory roof rails and crossbars

Thinking of getting a cargo box (x cargo, Thule, yakima).

Notice the factory rack and rails have a capacity of 100 pounds. X cargo mentions not using box unless rack and rails are rated to 150 pounds. They also say box will work on mazda 9 with factory roof and rails.

Question: if you use a cargo box or know someone that does, have they had a problem and are you careful about overloading it.

Thanks.

I have used a Sears box (largest one they have). It has been all over the USA on top of my Durango and CX9's. I am surprised it is still intact. I never worried about weight. I just threw in what would not fit below and what allowed me to close the box. Unless you are putting engine parts in one I doubt the few suit cases will be too much weight. The main problem with these things is parking garages.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have used a box on my sister's minivan. When I saw the weight restrictions on the cx 9 roof rack, I was a little concerned. Glad to hear from someone that has used a box on the cx 9.

CARGO bOX

We have a thule box and it hooks up fine to the stock rails and cross bars. Be sure you adjust the bars far enough forward to insure the lift gate can go all the way up. We have traveled with very full loads and at 75+ mph with no problems or fuel mileage issues.
