A/C air conditioner condensor (hole in the line likely from overheating/overpressurization)
I'd be surprised if the refrigeration system did not have a high pressure cut out switch that should have shut the system down before the pressure got high enough to do damage. Good job to replace the condenser (the ac system heat exchanger just in front of the car's radiator; it condenses high temperature high pressure refrigerant vapor to high pressure liquid). Did you use a vacuum pump to evacuate the system before you recharged it with refrigerant? The vacuum pump removes air and moisture as well as verifying that the repaired system is tight.

Default 2018 cx9 gt

I did have the a/c lines vacuumed from a mechanic who then pressurized the lines with refrigerant.
Today I'm again having issues with the radiator fan kicking on. I'm not getting any voltage to the fan. Fuse is good. Not entirely sure which relay its on because they don't spell it out in the manual or inside the fuse/relay box.

Default 2018 Mazda CX9 Overheating

My 2018 CX9 began overheating about three weeks ago. I took it to Mazda and they said it was not a known issue and there was no recall. My engine has been ruined and must be replaced to the tune of $9,800. I am pissed, especially when I read this thread before taking it to the dealership and it is definitely a known issue.

Tested relay all is good.

Tested power to fans. 12-13 volts.

Checked all fuses and still nothing.

Replaced fan assembly today and still nothing working.

Any idea how to find issue? There is 3 wires for fan. Positive negative and signal wire.

That is terrible. I'm sorry that happened to you and your suv. I eventually took mine to another shop who then replaced the fan assembly and (knock on wood) everything seems to be working OK now.

have you checked your VIN for the turbo/head TB? If in the group, call regional Mazda.

Hey! im definitely within the VIN range for the coolant leak, but i had that dame mechanic check and they said I didn't have any coolant leaks or codes showing. Not sure if I could pursue this unless it's showing signs of failure? also just passed 160,000km and well out of warranty. cheers

After reading and experiencing the same overheating issues as everyone else on this thread, I contacted the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) and filed a complaint. Since this is a known issue with Mazda they should’ve issued a recall so customers were aware and could get it repaired. After completing the complaint, the agent assured me that they would investigate the issue and urged me to encourage others to file a complaint with them as well. He said the more information they have from multiple people, they better chance of getting a recall issued. If a recall is issued, any money spent out of pocket for repairs would be reimbursed by Mazda, regardless of when the expense was incurred.

I know for sure the fan works because I bought a new one. So I started with power and ground again. Had a strong 13 volts. Then went to ground wire. After checking ground it seemed fine. But when I checked a different ground wire it was twice as strong on the Multi meter than the ground for the fan. So I traced the ground wire down and when inspecting connection there was very little contact due to paint around the bolt. I cleaned the paint off the area and everything worked like a charm. I guess the original threads inside the bolt was not enough ground. So cleaning the metal was all that was needed to give that perfect contact. Just a heads up if someone ever has any issues in the future. I know for sure if the dealership was to work on this they would have charged you for multiple parts and lots of labor. No codes were present so hard issue to find.

Seen plenty of earth issues after paint repairs, they paint over the earths and don't clean the threads or brackets upon re-assembly.
You guys are amazing! The fan was not working, and I suspected something due to the recent body work after an accident on the front driver side.

I checked the ground wire contact, and it was screwed with a non-conducting black bolt! I found a shiny metallic bolt elsewhere in the engine compartment which was clearly not used for any conductivity, and swapped with this black one so I'd have a proper 10mm bolt to attach the contact. After doing this the fan now turns on properly.

Amazing trouble shooting and huge time saver too!
