Purchased a Certified 2016 CX-9 Signature for $37.9K, car had 6300 miles at time of purchase. Decided to purchase certified out of state since GTs are selling for $40.2K and Signatures at $42.5K in the northern VA area.

Just purchased a 2017 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring AWD in Machine Gray Metallic with black interior. Wanted to share my pricing breakdown in case it's useful to other potential 2017 buyers:
MSRP: $43,510
Invoice: $41,194
Sale price (including $750 loyalty discount): $39,200
Sales tax (8.7%): $3476
Title/reg fee: $115
Vehicle license fee: $250
Total out-the-door price: $43,041
Used Mazda 1.9% APR promo financing. No trade-in.
So all-in-all I finished with a sale price $1994 under invoice and about 10% under MSRP. I ended up adding on a 9yr/100k Mazda Extended Care Total Protection warranty in the end. They initially wanted around $3000 for it, but they accepted my offer of $1853.
I did all of my negotiating over email with local dealerships over the course of about a week. I ditched a couple of them early on when they wouldn't give me a firm quote. The last couple of dealerships finally told me they couldn't match the offer.

Happy new owner here in the SF Bay Area.
Test drove the car on Saturday with my wife. As soon as I saw her reaction I knew this was our choice over the 2017 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited Platinum and the 2017 Volvo XC-90 Momentum with Plus, Vision, and Convenience Packages.
Yesterday (Sunday) morning I emailed 5 dealers within 50 miles (that Mazda USA indicated had that exact vehicle specs in stock) telling them I intended to take home a 2017 CX-9 Signature in Machine Gray that same day. I had already driven the vehicle and was a cash buyer.
I received the following:
- 1 terrible quote over invoice
- 1 quote at invoice which I quickly rejected only to have the sales manager proceed to insult me by offering a GT FWD since the Signature was out of my budget. I told him which vehicles I had decided between and wished him a good day.
- 2 identical quotes from two dealerships within the DGDG dealer network
- and the winning quote....
TOTAL MSRP $45,550
Final Price $41,770
OTD $46,127 (9.25% sales tax)
I think I did well. The winning quote was a full 1k under the next closest quote.

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a NEW 2016 CX-9 Sport in Sonic Silver. MSRP was $32,420. Got it down to $25,000 plus TTL. Out the Door for $26,500. A little bummed that it didn't have the bells and whistles of the higher trims but it looks great and I was able to buy a 2017 navigation SD card for $100 (works great) to make it feel a little more high end. Still I think I got a pretty great deal.

I know what you mean about "all the bells and whistles". My last few cars have been the loaded ones and I don't think I can go back...
