Default Anybody ever have their "AT"light turn on in the dash?

2010 Mazda CX7 105k miles. Last night I was driving home when I noticed that the car was having a hard time shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. All other gears are fine just when I take off at a green light it revs high when trying to shift from 1st to 2nd. It's a 5 speed automatic, so I can bypass the hard shift by going from 1st to 3rd if I go manual. Also I noticed a AT light comes on in the dash. Drove it to autozone immediately and bought a quart of AT fluid and dumped it in. Car wouldn't go in reverse when I pulled out of the autozone parking lot. This morning, I did a transmission flush, oil change and even bought a new battery I still have the same issue with 1st and 2nd but reverse works fine. Anyone have this same issue? What did you do to fix it and how much did it cost? Thanks in advance!

soooo... you threw in a quart of transmission fluid.. did you even check if it was low?! The light just indicates a problem. You need that checked out by someone who knows what he is doing. ^^ To me, now that you did the flush and still have issues between first and second indicate there is surface damage between those gears. Not being able to go into reverse was probably just a symptom of to much AT fluid.

Update: put the cx7 in the shop yesterday. Got a call this morning from the mechanic who says that all the gear codes are coming up bad. He believes this is due to selenoid harness being maybe damaged. Right now the quote for the work parts and labor is around $700 depending on what he finds out when everything gets opened up
