@1000kgs,, you will need some form of trailer brakes, either mechanical, hydraulic or electric.
Also, depending on the towbar manufacture, some FWD's had a MAX braked tow rating of 1000kgs. (750kg un-braked) The 2.3 AWD turbo had 1500 or 1600kg limits.
I haven't towed with a CX-7, although it will capable with the 2.5ltr engine.
Slippery boat ramps might be a challenge.
