Hey all! I have an issue that my liftgate does not open and can't even open it from the inside with the emergency release when turning it to the right. When you press the switch from the outside it is like it is already pressed in. I looked on the inside around the trim and nothing is stuck. with the emergency release cap off and pressing the unlock button you can see the cam move. I had recently replaced my car battery and it opened no problem after that however then the keyfob would not work until after 10 presses of the open switch. So then installed new keyfob battery but same issue, liftgate won't open but all other doorlocks work fine so I ruled out the fuse. Any ideas? Visit to the dealer? Thanks all!

Thanks! I was able to crawl back there and have some good light on the emerg release, inspected mechanism, moved cam and it opened. Then tested it about 20 times and works like a charm. I'll probably just order a new locking mechanism and install it soon. Thanks..

 

Hi my liftgate stopped working and I have been crawling in the open manually. Then it mysteriously worked for a month and has stopped again. I've checked the fuse, unplugged and replaced the power switch but no go. Is a 2012 Mazda want to charge a "looking fee" $200
any other suggestions? Is this an easy at home fix or Mazda visit?

 

Hi did you manage to find out what the problem was I’m having the same problem my garage hasn’t a clue what it is I’ve replaced the release button and the locking mechanism and still no joy
