Hard Starting
 

I have owned a 2010 CX-7 for about 6 months and it is slowly having a starting issue that is coming up more often.

When I go to start it, it seems like it isn't getting gas and I have to keep cranking it longer than I would expect and it eventually starts.

No real problems driving or anything, just when I start.

I tried to find a pattern such as only half a tank, only when full, uphill, downhill, warm, cold, etc. But so far no real pattern.

Any suggestions? I haven't taken it to the dealer yet because I am not looking forward to having the dealer throwing parts at it. I thought I would see if this has happened to anyone first to point the dealer in the right direction.

I will say that as it cranks right before it starts the fuel cap light comes on and then it starts, but I don't know if that is just part of the process when cranking for too long.

What engine?

2.2 diesel?
2.3 Turbo Petrol?
2.5 Petrol?
