Default Changing ECT sensor?

Our 2007 CX-7 is reporting that the ECT sensor is showing unstable readings per the OBD2 code. Will changing the sensor help this code?
I understand that this is a pretty easy DIY job, but do I need to drain the coolant before changing this sensor? According to the Mazda service manual I need to.

Where can I also find the cheapest ECT sensor online which also works good? The prices ranges from $14 to $36 which is a huge span. Will the $14 ones work just as good as the $36 ones?
