Default Wondering about adding longer warranty

Wondering if it is worth it to add the extra bumper to bumper warranty after the original 36 month, 60,000 mile one expires? $2600 in USA.

No, not worth it, too much profit in that.

that is a crazy high price, somewhere in the $600-800 range would be more reasonable depending on the length of the warranty. Also check who the warranty is through, I hear Mazda has linked up with some aftermarket company but many dealers sell warranties from other companies and the warranty is only as good as the company backing it. And I don't even know if the company Mazda is using is good.

I took it. 5 years 100,000 miles. With all city driving and 4 kids, I'll most likely get my money back.

The CX-5 is a new vehicle from the ground up so, there are chances of mechanical problems down the road. Better safe than sorry.

The chances of mechanical problems down the road are significant, once the CX-5 exceeds 100K miles. Therefore most of the warranties mentioned will be expired by the time non-routine repairs are necessary.

I have a tendency to agree with you. A relatively new vehicle with a relatively new engine on top of all your city driving (harder on the transmission). A combination like that I can understand. If you were doing mostly highway miles I would disagree.
Just make sure you do your proper oil change intervals and keep receipts.

We bought a new Chevy Silverado HD in 2005 and bought the extended warranty for $1700. We had to have a major break job done after 4 years that was covered by warranty. It would have cost $3800 out of our pocket otherwise.
