Default Wireless Android Auto

Hello all.. I had a cx-9 in the past before going to Honda crv.. I was looking to getting back in the zoom zoom family with a cx-5. I have been shopping for new cx-5 and rav4. I live with my phone in the car and live by Android auto. And I have this Gerry rigged thing in my crv now to get wireless Android auto but was annoyed to find that for some reason Mazda limits that wireless version of Android auto to the higher trims. I do not need all those items in the higher trims.. The rav4 includes wireless android auto in the base levels up .. Am I reading it right that I need to upgrade to the upper trim levels of the cx5? I will not do that. Is there any way to get wireless AA in the cx5 from the factory for the mid to lower trims?

Thanks

Unfortunately there is not, but others have said the wireless AA dongles work well (I personally have not been successful trying). To me, the driving experience would trump not having wireless AA. But that is just me...

Thanks for the reply..For me it really is a deal breaker for a car at this price level. It is 2024 and wireless AA is everywhere. Somewhat mystifying they would omit it when everyone else has it on base models. I believe the CX-50 has it on all trim levels. Perhaps I can look there.

Again thanks for the response.

To be honest I like having the wire as opposed to wireless. I've never had any issues and can charge my phone at the same time. The CX-50 is not nearly made as well as the CX-5, so I think that'd be a mistake to do. If you really wanted, you could just get a wireless adapter that is hidden in the armrest. There are many of them that people say they like and work with no issues.

Thanks for your reply.. Yes I have been doing a lot of research on the cx-5 vs cx-50 debate and am really leaning toward to cx-5. As I indicated I spend a lot of time in the car interacting with my phone and want to limit my distractions. I see that the cx-5 does not have a touch screen. If you use AA or Carplay do you find the **** controls efficient ? Any issues?
thank you for the time to reply.

It's super easy to learn and I use it without even looking at the screen while driving. I don't like touchscreens and Mazda had a lot of ghosting issues on the pre-2021 models. It's a fantastic system and works perfectly. On the 2024 model they brought the touchscreen back so I'm not sure how those will last long term, but I'm sure they will be better.
