Digging deeper into our new used 2014 cx-5 GT. Replacing the thermostat and found someone has been in here before and it must have been the same person who forgot to put the ball joint nuts on or tighten the swaybar end link nut.

They've replaced two transmission cooler hose clamps with ****ty worm gear clamps. That's nice of them. I'll order those shortly. Then they left a ground dangling below the battery tray. Does it go on this odd chunk of steel that's bolted to the engine mount bracket?

What belongs on this bolt sticking way out of the back of the transmission with orange RTV all over the threads?

 

And I'm guessing this transmission has been replaced or taken apart

 

 

Thanks. Cleaned the ground, bolt and metal surface and installed it.

 

Still need to know what the bolt sticking out of the back of the transmission is for.
