Unhappy Seat cooling ventilator is on after engine shut off

Hi Mazda fans,

Greetings from a new member! I have a 2019 Mazda CX-5 with cooled seats.

The strange thing I started experiencing since last summer is that sometimes after I turn off my engine, the seat ventilators for both seats will be on mysteriously for unknown duration.

The Mazda dealership I went to cannot troubleshoot it as they cannot reproduce it every time when I head there for maintenance.

The majority of time it happened is after 1) a long drive 2) with heating seats on for a while. I was taking it as a default mechanism until it starts happening more frequently in random conditions.

I don't think my butt is on fire so they need to cool it down. just afraid it could drain the battery if I just leave it there running.

Any thought? Anyone has experienced this before?

Best,
Jeremy

How long do they stay on for? What happens if you stay inside the vehicle & lock the doors?

usually I would try to turn engine on & off couple times until it's totally off. But I do have several occasions leaving it on and thinking it should be fine but it's still on after I came back 30 mins later.

I also tried to stay in the vehicle and lock the doors. It's on. Just like today, it's 15F in boston and after I cleaned the snow and turn off engine, it's on again! Really annoying.

I have the exact same issue and can’t have it reproduces at the dealership. It’s so annoying. Please let me know if you figure out how to fix it.

I live in Guam and have the same problem with my passenger seat cooling that stays on and never turns off. Dealer changed the battery but that wasn’t the problem because it drained the battery again.
It’s been in the dealership for troubleshooting electrical for nearly 3 weeks now. It is annoying and I miss my car!😫

Default Seat Ventilation

I have a CX 5 and the seat ventilation has now just started to run now when the car has been turned off. I have 64000 miles on the car and this has just started. I when to load some bags in the back hatch and heard what sounded like a fan running, when I unlocked the car and got in I could feel and hear the fan in the passenger seat. When I started the car the fan when off. I am concerned this is going to run down my battery. is there a way to reset it or turn it full off. I am over an hour away from a Mazda dealer so would like to find a fix now. Drove the car with the ventilation on, turned the car off, if went off and then a minute or so later turned back on.

Any thoughts or has someone had a dealer fix this issue

Jo

Does same happen if you engage seat heating too?

Did not have it on before I shut off the car. I did try to see if that had any impact. Took the car into a Mazda dealer today and as they could see and feel the fan blowing they did check it out. They said it is the heater control unit it bad. Given I have an extended warranty with a different dealership I will have to take it to them to have it fixed under the warranty. It is only the seat cooling fan that is blowing after the car is turned off not the seat heater. After they checked out the unit it seems to have stopped so we will see before I try to take it in to the other dealership to try to get them fix something that they can see happening.

There should be a service bulletin in your country to address this issue.
