Running light dim

Drivers side RL is dimmer than the passenger side. The lights are on but not very bright. Any ideas? Easy fix or need to replace the whole headlight assembly? $$$$

Still under warranty, 2016,so off to the dealer next week but would like an idea.

They need to replace the whole headlight assembly, good thing it’s under warranty, jeez.

Done a few of these.

What does a headlight unit cost, just the part?

Bringing this one back up. So in Jan they replaced the headlight assembly under warranty. The job was something like $6-700 if I had to pay for it.

Well wouldn’t you know, the passenger side just went out, same issue. BUT, the 36 months ended in May. I am probably on the hook for this repair.

I called the dealer.....”you need to call corporate”.

Just got off the phone with them, I have a case number but no resolution yet. Need to call back in a day or so and see what if anything they can do.

I’m guessing defective headlight assemblies.

I know there were some issues with the higher trim headlights (LED or whatever they are). Regardless, your car has a history of headlight problems and Mazda should definitely take care of this under "good will". Do not take no for an answer whatever you do. You are not making an unreasonable request given the circumstances and manufacturers are usually pretty cooperative on stuff like this. Keep us posted.

After speaking to Mazda Customer Experience they gave me a case number and said they would get back to me.
Well they did, they said that I would have to pay half the replacement cost at $641.31

Yikes, really?

Any idea on what the passenger headlight costs, or the oem part number, the link doesn't work for me

I did an internet search, this light dimming is epidemic for 2016 CX5. I’m filing a complaint with NHTSA.

Don't waste your time filing complaints with the government. Document your findings with evidence from the internet and elsewhere. Go back to Mazda and get them to elevate your claim. You are only one month out of warranty for Christ's sake and you've already had one of these units fail. You're not asking for anything unreasonable! I see you've been posting here https://www.mazdas247.com/forum/show...dim-flickering
where there are currently 190 posts on this issue, so you know Mazda is aware of the problem. The part # is KAOG-51-031J and the list price is $1,059.36. https://www.shopmazdaparts.com/oem-p...bC1sNC1nYXM%3D

And one unit failed just 5 months ago.
