Roof rack?

Hello,

I am the new owner of a 2016 Mazda CX-5 GT. Looking to add roof rails and crossbars. Where is the best place to purchase these? Was planning on getting OEM roof rails, but can't decide if I should get the OEM crossbars or get something different? Eventually wanting to be able to carry a cargo box!

What do you all have and/or recommend? Would love to see pictures of your set up!!!

Thanks

I have the same year and model CX that you have. I bought my roof rack and crossbars on Amazon.

Roof rack $216.80 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (price went up since my purchase, I paid $189)

Crossbars $98 https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thank you! How do you like the OEM crossbars? Are they pretty sturdy?

Initially I was a bit disappointed that the crossbars weren't easier to adjust. Most crossbars adjust with the press of a button but the Mazda bars need the user to loosen up a screw first. No big deal for me since I set them in one place and have no need to move them, yet. I have my crossbars set all the way forward for the front and all the way rearward for the back. I've had my tandem 80 lb. kayak up there a couple of times so far and it's worked perfectly. And yes, they are very sturdy.

The only issue, and this would come up no matter which crossbars are used, is where to securely tie down the front and rear of the kayak? I have the front and rear tow/tie down eyelets (my dealer supplied them to me after I complained that they weren't included with the car) and these work perfectly for this purpose.

I think 2017-18 OEM crossbars say 100# max

I seem to remember some after market ones saying 150#.
