Smart City Break Support Question - 2015 CX 5
At the end of January, I purchased a 2015 CX 5, Grand Touring edition. It came with the Tech Package already installed, which means it has the Smart City Break Support System (as the sticker says as well).
I am curious if this particular model should have a button on the left side of the steering wheel like I do for the BSM and AFS (I believe that can be controlled with the DSC button, which I do not have). Some photos show yes, some photos say no. I notice when I start my CX5, that particular icon (DSC) on the instrument cluster lights up, so that to me says I should have it. I have yet to really need to use it, so I don't even know if it's active or not (I assume it would be since there is no button to turn it off).
Any thoughts? Just wondering if I am missing something.

I too wandered if it was working. A couple times I approached a parking gate, I thought my wheels were scraping the curb. Not a pretty sound. I later figured out it was the "Smart City Brake." The system adds some pressure to the brake system but I don't know if it will completely stop the car. I'd prefer it stop completely if a pedestrian comes close.
To disengage the feature, go into your main screen menu setting and de-select.

I believe I recall seeing this question on another forum and the answer was that the early models with Smart City Brake had a defeat button, but Mazda subsequently decided that is not necessary or desirable, so they discontinued it.
