Replacing indicator globes with LEDs? (2021 CX-5 GT)
Hey guys,
I’m a super happy owner of a new CX-5 GT… took delivery a couple of weeks ago.
I opted for the pre-facelift model as I was able to get the GT spec for a similar price as the facelift “Touring” spec, which is a whole grade down and misses out on leather / sunroof / BOSE sound system, and a few other nice features.
One thing I do wish the car had was LED indicator lights front and back. They both seem to be globes, which always seems weird in this day and age, when everything else in the car is LED!
I’m wondering if it’s possible to switch the incandescent globes for LED-based globes without causing any problems? And if so, are they a standard type of globe that a respected globe company (OSRAM, Philips, etc?) might make?
Thanks for any light you can shed on this!
(That wasn’t intended to be a pun… which is probably just as well…)
Cheers,
Mike

Super simple to do. I had a '19 GT with the same lights you do and now have a '21 GTR and swapped them out on both cars. Don't forget the one in the rear hatch as an LED is much brighter and helps a lot. No issues at all after the swap. I also recommend getting LED turn signal bulbs for the rear. You can get them with load resistors built in so they are plug and play. I did the front turns as well, but they require external load resistors as you can't use two sets with the built in resistors for some reason. Brand is not a big deal. They sell sets of bulbs for the CX-5 on Amazon.

I’ll take a look on Amazon.
