Poor Highway Mileage on CX5 2.5 Engine
I have over 25K in 13 months with a 45 mile commute mostly at 70mph. Living on the coast gets a lot of wind in the equation which is a more pronounced headwind coming home. That said I am averaging 26 mph which I don't mind at all.
37,000+ miles
Getting 24mpg tank avg
Lost 4 mpg putting on Yokohama ats tires. ( they are heavier than the stock tires).
When towing my Casita travel trailer I get a solid 20.5 mpg per tank avg.

I have a light foot and, after 8500 miles on a 2.5 engine CX5, can't average more than 28 mpg on the highway. Very disappointing. You shouldn't have to drive at 60 mph to get the rated highway mileage.
1400 miles in on my 2016 CX-5 AWD and the average in rural Montana driving (high speeds at 60-75mph and very little stop and go) and I am averaging 24.5 mph and it seems to be holding steady there. I am guessing the only way 30 mph is going to happen is at a steady 65 mph with a tail wind. Also using the "sport button" does not help as it never shifts to 6th gear even after 80 mph has occurred which is an oversight by Mazda. I am hoping an software update is in the works. That is not how a "sport mode" is suppose to work
