Default Plus 1 replacment rubber on a CX-5

Anyone have any experience with a +1 tire replacement on a CX-5?

I have a 2018 GT with 7" wide, 19" stock rims. Plus 1 for me would be replacing the stock 225/55-19 Toyos with 235/50-19's, same rims..

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks,
Carl

A few points:
  • What you describe above does not qualify as a "Plus One" increase in tire size; that term is reserved for when you increase the wheel size, in this case to 20 inches.
  • Moving from a 225/55 R19 to a 235/50 R19 will reduce the diameter of your tires and in turn cause your speedometer and odometer to indicate faster speeds/more miles driven than actual.
  • If you feel the need for a wider tire, the 245/50 R19 will give you a similar overall diameter to the OEM tires, however, I cannot give you any guidance on whether the 245 section width tires will rub the outer fenders on a rough road or the inner fenders at full steering lock.
  • Given a 7" wide rim is the minimum spec for 245/50 R19 size tires, mounting them may look a bit funny as the sidewall will angle out from the rim flange to the tread section of the tire.
