Default P258B Vacuum pump circuit/range performance

Hi all

Wondered if there is someone who can help me here

2014 I have a Mazda CX-5 2.2 Diesel

I am getting a fault code P258B

Vacuum pump Circuit/range performance

The vacuum pump is mechanical(attached to the end of the camshaft) - can someone tell me which sensor is responsible for setting this code?

I didn't think there was a sensor that reads the vacuum pumps pressure apart from the brake booster sensor. Could this be the sensor that is responsible for reading the vacuum pumps pressure and sending fault information to the PCM?

Interestingly I carried out a vacuum pressure test on the vacuum pump

The pressure is pretty accurate if not slightly higher (27inHg) my gauge may be slightly out

HOWEVER - Live data on ForScan shows that the brake booster pressure sensor is reading about 7inHg.........

this is as much info as I Know

Can anyone help?

thanks

Danny

Very common issue for the pump to die a slow death and eventually fail.
I've replaced probably 50 of them.

There is a recall on some CX5's worldwide for vacuum pumps.

1st contact Mazda to check.
If it's not involved, book it in with Mazda for a vacuum pump test, its carried out using their factory diagnostics tool.

Hello Danny!

Did you found out what caused the problem? I have the same issue.

I’ve had the same code come up on my Mazda 3 2014 Sport Nav 2.2L.

How much does it approximately cost to fix this issue?

Thanks
