Navigation SD card/Android Auto

Our 2023 CX-5 Turbo is equipped to utilize an SD navigation card (but does not currently have one installed)- Can I install an SD card myself? if so, will it affect using the Android Auto Google Maps feature? Will I be able to choose which map system I want to use? Also, does using the SD card affect the Heads-Up display?

I have a 2023 CX=5 Turbo also. I bought the SD navigation card and installed it myself. It does not affect Android Auto, On the heads up display, it adds the speed limit and shows stops signs. It also puts a red line on the speedometer that matches the speed limit.

You can swap between in car navigation and AA by pressing the home button for a couple of seconds. It's a pretty cool feature. Some have said there are issues updating the maps on the SD card if you DIY and buy one on EBay or Amaxzon for 50 bucks (personally, my 50 EBay SD cards updates perfectly), but even if you don't get to update, it shows the speed limits and gives you decent alternative nav option. I recommend getting one.

I originally bought one off of Amazon but it would not allow me to update it. I returned it and bought one from Navi World , am able to update it (for 3 years) and am very happy with it.

I got one from Amazon for like $50 and it works perfectly. As @mm49061 said earlier, it cannot be updated. I don't mind cause I use Carplay anyway, but it's more of a backup. It will add more features to your car such as the HUD display and speed limit signs to your cluster if you have a higher trim equipped to your car. It does not affect using Carplay/Android Auto, as you can use those anytime your phone is plugged in with the SD card installed.

I recently purchased a genuine Mazda SD card from Mazdaswag.com. I was able to install it myself. It involved nothing more than sticking the card in the central console slot and then starting up the automobile. I even managed to use Mazda Connect to update the card to the latest version. I hate technology, and it hates me, but this was super simple for me. I am good for updates as they happen through December 9, 2026.

What was the cost from Mazdaswag?

$398 and change with fast shipping. I ordered it Thursday and received it Monday.
